IcyBox is a real US company with a genuinely popular app, which is more than most mystery-box platforms can say. It’s also the platform where recent user reviews split the hardest: 79 five-star and 60 one-star out of the 150 most recent App Store reviews. The honest answer is that it’s a real product with real fulfillment and real complaints, and two clauses in its terms do the worrying. Everything here is sourced from our IcyBox listing, re-verified today.

The buyback math

Boxes start at about $50 and reveal a real watch (designer bags were added this month, per an October 1 company announcement). Sell the item back and the company sets the price. Its terms say IcyBox alone determines the buyback price and doesn’t disclose how it calculates it, and they disclaim any warranty of authenticity on items. Third parties report buybacks around 90% of listed value, withdrawable by bank or Venmo with a $2 fee.

Using the third-party figure on a $500 watch:

$500 x 0.90 = $450, minus the $2 withdrawal fee = $448

That’s the optimistic version, because the actual formula is a black box. Compare that with the affiliate reviewer who received 13 watches, most within 1 to 2 weeks, and with the 4 App Store reports from August to September 2026 of withdrawals that failed, never arrived, or carried high fees.

Why the reviews split

Happy reviewers say real watches arrived quickly and the odds, published in the app before each box, felt fair. One reviewer said they’d about broken even and were happy with the adrenaline rush. Unhappy reviewers say the grails are worth far less than the box price, and shipping stretched from 4 days to about a month across 5 App Store reports, including one stolen parcel and one substituted item. Twenty-two of the recent one-star reviews call the app a scam; we don’t use that word, but 60 one-star reviews out of 150 recent ones is a warning in itself.

The fine print that matters

Two terms clauses deserve your attention. First, the company decides your sell-back price and won’t say how. Second, it disclaims any warranty that the watch is authentic, which is an odd thing to read on a luxury platform. Add that the app is iOS only and there’s no public pricing on the web, and you have a product aimed squarely at impulse buyers.

The company behind it is InfiniteEdge Inc., a US company based in Newark, Delaware per its press releases. The app is rated 4.3 stars from about 7,500 ratings on the App Store, which looks fine until you see the recent split.
