Is PICKEM Ripping Packs Legit? A Paperwork Problem

PICKEM's Ripping Packs sell PSA-graded packs from $1. But the terms and help center disagree on whether sell-backs are cash or non-redeemable coins.

PICKEM Ripping Packs is real enough. It is a mode inside the PICKEM app selling single-card packs of PSA-graded Pokemon and sports cards from $1, with odds and market values shown before you buy.

The legit question here is not whether the cards exist. It is whether your sell-back pays real money. And the company’s own paperwork gives two different answers.

The terms and the help center disagree

This is the single most important thing to know. PICKEM’s terms of use (August 2026) say sell-backs are paid in Gold Coins that cannot be redeemed. PICKEM’s help center says sell-backs pay withdrawable cash. We list the terms’ version, because the contract is what you would be bound by in a dispute.

The mechanics, either way: 90% of fair market value, 100% on your first sale, and you have three hours after opening to decide. After that the cards auto-sell. A $10 card gets you $9 back on the default setting, in whatever form the payout actually takes.

The help center also advertises push-to-card withdrawals as usually instant, with a $6 minimum and a $2,500 maximum per withdrawal. If sell-backs really are cash, that is a decent cash-out setup. If the terms are right, the 90% number is worth far less than it looks. Until PICKEM resolves the contradiction, treat the buyback rate as uncertain.

It shares an app and a wallet with a casino

Ripping Packs is a mode inside PICKEM, an app that is mostly a sweepstakes social casino. The operator is Joyloop Inc. That matters for trust in two ways: the pack product inherits the casino side’s payout reputation, and your pack money sits alongside casino money.

The positives on paper are real. PICKEM publishes a responsible-gaming policy and runs clear staged ID checks. But the availability map is a warning about what kind of product regulators see here: Ripping Packs is not available in Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada or Washington, and some states require you to be 19 or 21.

Five Trustpilot reports from July to September 2026 describe casino-side redemptions pending from 6 days to months. None clearly involve Ripping Packs, but a delayed-redemption pattern on the same wallet is relevant context. PICKEM also claims “provably fair” without publishing the algorithm, and its Normal, High and Max odds modes let you pick your own volatility, which changes the value distribution in ways worth understanding before you pay.

The CEO answers complaints himself

Here is where PICKEM looks better than most of the category. It holds 4.5 stars across 172 Trustpilot reviews (checked October 6, 2026), 4.75 across 4,210 App Store ratings, and 4.46 across 4,459 on Google Play. All of those are whole-app numbers, mostly reflecting the casino.

What stands out is the founder and CEO, Joan, replying to complaints personally. When a reviewer reported a 400 SC redemption stuck for days, Joan replied that a customer-support issue was the cause, that the redemption had been processed, and that the account would be prioritized. Another reviewer documented three fast redemptions (36 hours, then under 12 hours) before hitting a delay. Engaged leadership does not erase the delayed-redemption reports, but it is a better signal than the silence you get from most pack sites.

How it scores

Our scorecard rates PICKEM strongest on support (4.5), for the direct engagement from the top. Fairness (3.5) credits the per-pack odds but nothing for the undocumented provably-fair claim. Payouts (3.5) reflects the instant-withdrawal claim against the terms’ Gold Coins language and the delayed casino redemptions. Value (3.0) scores the buyback as credit-only per the terms. Experience (4.0) reflects the responsible-gaming policy against the casino bundling.
