PrizePicks, the fantasy sports app run by SidePrize LLC, launched Packs this week: one-card digital rips priced from $1 to $2,500, with estimated odds, value ranges and pull rates shown before you buy. After the reveal, you can have the real card shipped to you or sell it back at the value PrizePicks states for it. It is the second time in two months that a major fantasy app has added pack ripping, after Underdog Rips launched in August.
What Packs actually is
Packs lives inside the existing PrizePicks app on iOS and Android, and on the web. There is no separate download and no separate account. Basketball and American football packs were live at launch, alongside Pokemon. Every card is a real physical card that PrizePicks says is authenticated and held in one of its storage facilities, and pulls are assigned by randomised allocation.
The legal framing is worth knowing. EGR read the terms and reports that PrizePicks describes Packs as an ecommerce platform, and a purchase as a retail purchase of repacked physical collectible cards rather than gambling. You have to be 18, 19 or 21 depending on your state, and physically present in that state when you buy. PrizePicks says Packs will eventually reach all 50 states; for now it is rolling out gradually.
The buyback, and the number that matters
Most pack sites publish a buyback percentage, so you can do the math before you spend. GameStop, for example, pays 90% of fair market value minus a 6% fee, which is 84.6% net: a card valued at $25 gets you $21.15 back. PrizePicks publishes no percentage and no fee. You get whatever the app states as the card’s fair market value at the reveal.
So the math runs through that stated value. Buy a $25 pack and pull a card the app values at $25, and selling it back returns the full $25. Pull a card valued at $10, and you get $10 back and the rip cost you $15. The catch is that PrizePicks sets the stated value itself, and there is no published table to check it against yet. Until shipping costs and payout timing are published too, the honest summary is that the exit is simple but the pricing of the exit is entirely in the platform’s hands.
What we do not know yet
This is a launch-day product, so the unknowns list is the important part. There are no reviews of Packs itself yet. The company-wide signals point in two directions at once: the PrizePicks app rates 4.71 from 505,061 App Store ratings and 4.4 from 75,724 Google Play ratings, while its Trustpilot profile sits at 1.3 from 302 reviews and the BBB file for SidePrize, LLC shows 728 complaints in three years. Those complaints are about the fantasy side, mostly withdrawals and account closures, and none of them mention Packs.
There is also no provably-fair system, so pulls cannot be verified the way they can on sites with seed-based fairness. And we could not find a public Packs product page, help article or Packs-specific terms page to read without an account; the launch facts here come from EGR and Gaming America reporting on PrizePicks’ own explainer and terms, which is why our PrizePicks Packs listing labels them that way. For a same-week comparison point, GodPack launched last week with the opposite approach: full terms published on day one and a stated 100% expected return claim.
We will update the listing as Packs-specific reviews, shipping reports and published terms appear. A fantasy giant with this many existing users will generate all three fast.
You must be 18 or older to use PrizePicks Packs, and 19 or 21 in some states. Pack sites cost real money and the cards you pull are usually worth less than the pack price. Only spend what you are comfortable losing.
