Our take on Upper Deck Moments
Overview
Upper Deck Moments is the trading-card giant’s new print-on-demand pack program, sold on its e-Pack platform and announced October 1, 2026. Each Moment commemorates a headline event: the debut release, timed to the 2026-27 NHL season, celebrates Evan Bouchard’s record five-point season opener for the Edmonton Oilers. Packs cost $6.99 and open instantly into your digital account. The physical card can be shipped home later, traded with other collectors, or transferred to the connected retailer The Authority for vaulting, grading and marketplace sale.
The pack model is unusual for this niche because the featured card is guaranteed. You know the base card before you pay. The gamble is limited to the chase cards: a Gold Parallel lands in about one of every ten packs, and serial-numbered parallels (Red to 25, Blue to 10, Black one of one) are distributed at the end of the sales window. Autograph parallels are promised only for select Moments.
There is no buyback and no cash-out. Upper Deck does not sell cards back to itself at any percentage, and e-Pack has no withdrawal system. The resale path is consignment through third parties: trade inside e-Pack, or transfer cards to The Authority or COMC and sell on their marketplaces under their rules.
What the numbers say
At $6.99 with a guaranteed featured card, the math is simpler than most pack sites but also more open-ended. There is no expected-value figure and no stated return. Print-on-demand means the card’s supply is set by how many packs sell during the sales window, and the window length was not published for the debut release, so scarcity cannot be checked from outside. The announcement says prices “start at” $6.99, so later Moments may cost more.
What does exist is stated chase math: roughly 1 in 10 packs carry the Gold Parallel bonus, and the serial runs are printed on the tin (Red /25, Blue /10, Black 1/1, autographs /5). That is a traditional card-pack disclosure, not a provably-fair draw, and nothing about a pack’s contents can be verified after the fact the way seed-based sites allow.
Payouts and shipping
There is no cash-out to score: e-Pack has no withdrawal system and Moments has no buyback, so the only money path is selling cards on someone else’s marketplace. Physical fulfillment runs through COMC and The Authority, with rates that vary by item location, service speed and address. No fixed per-card fee and no delivery time is published. e-Pack sales are final, with no returns or exchanges once a pack is purchased, and lost or damaged shipments are covered only up to the value you declare.
The debut structure is digital-first: cards live in the e-Pack account and eligible digital cards are exchanged for physical copies later. Registration requires being 18 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction.
How we scored it
- Fairness 2.5: stated chase ratios and a guaranteed featured card per pack (2), no seed-based provably-fair scheme to verify a draw after the fact (0), no published RTP or expected-value figure (0), stability default (0.5).
- Value 4.0: a guaranteed licensed card at $6.99 entry, held down by the absence of any buyback and by resale running through third-party marketplaces with their own fees.
- Payouts 3.0: no buyback and no cash-out path exist to evaluate; shipping is stated only in general terms with no fixed fees or delivery times, and there are no user reports yet.
- Experience 6.0: a working web platform with instant pack opening and peer-to-peer trading, capped at 6 because no app exists on either store and no responsible-play tools were found.
- Support 5.0: neutral default. A contact form exists, but there are no Moments-specific user reports to judge.
